Domestic low-voltage installations must be inspected upon commissioning. After the initial regulatory inspection, periodic re-inspections are required every 25 years, and:
• In case of major modifications or extensions
• Prior to the sale of the property
Non-domestic low-voltage installations must be inspected upon commissioning and subsequently every 5 years, or after significant modifications or extensions.
Only FPS Economy-accredited inspection bodies are permitted to carry out these inspections. SECO Belgium ASBL/VZW is accredited for both conformity assessments and periodic inspections.
What must be prepared prior to an inspection of a domestic low-voltage installation?
The responsible party must provide:
• Single-line (or multi-line) diagrams
• Layout plans of the electrical installation
• Technical documentation of key equipment (inverters, EV charging stations, etc.)
• If available: the EAN code (18-digit identifier found on the utility bill

The accredited inspection body issues an inspection report which must be included in the installation’s compliance file and be made available to tenants, future owners, operators, or site managers.
Regulatory inspection of domestic and non-domestic low-voltage installations is mandatory. Non-compliance or defective installations may lead to accidents, fires, or electrocution.
