In the 1930s, two bridges collapsed on the Albert Canal. The construction sector vowed that it would never happen again. SECO was then founded as an independent body, born from a joint effort by all key stakeholders in the Belgian construction sector, driven by one goal: building trust in construction.
Almost a century later, our work spans the entire construction life cycle, in the Benelux and beyond. At its core, our story is the story of generations of experts united by shared values and one mission: to support high-quality, innovative, and sustainable building through independent expertise.
We confidently commit to excellence because we constantly pursue research and innovation in-house. In practice, we dedicate up to 20% of our teams’ hours to training and research, and we maintain strong ties with expert bodies and academia.
Our Technical Council, with renowned university professors, supports us in addressing the most complex challenges our clients face. Many of our in-house experts also hold teaching positions at universities, training the next generation of experts, support standardization commissions, and join working groups. Giving back to society, as an independent actor, is part of our DNA.
As a result of this ongoing pursuit, when a technical dilemma arises, we can foster a third way: an innovative solution.
Furthermore, as part of our mission, we build for future generations by relying on excellence and innovation as the foundation for the highest quality standards.
Through our expertise in climate-resilient, energy-efficient, circular, and green buildings, materials, and infrastructure, we empower our clients to become sustainability actors.
