When must fire detection systems be inspected?

• Upon commissioning
• Every 3 years thereafter
(Some local or ministerial regulations may require annual inspections.)

Who is authorized to perform these inspections?

Only accredited inspection bodies may perform fire detection inspections.
SECO Belgium ASBL/VZW is accredited under ISO 17020 by BELAC for inspecting fixed fire detection, alarm, and alert systems.

What must be prepared?

The responsible person must provide:
• Compartmentation plans
• Risk analysis
• Surveillance levels
• Reference documents for additional requirements
• External influence diagrams (per RGIE)
• Safety circuits
• Battery autonomy details
• Detection and alarm zone plans
• As-built documentation
• Actuation interface diagrams
• Commissioning reports
• 100% testing checklist
• Technical documentation and EN54-2/4 & 13 certificates

What is the result of the inspection?

An inspection report is issued by the accredited body.
