Internal gas installations must be inspected:
• Prior to commissioning
• After any modification
The accredited inspection body checks for conformity with the following Belgian standards:
• NBN D51-003
• NBN D51-004
• NBN/DTD B61-001
• NBN/DTD B61-002
• NBN D51-006
At meter opening, the distribution network operator is responsible for verifying the pressure tightness of the internal installation.
Only accredited inspection bodies are authorized. SECO Belgium ASBL/VZW, accredited by BELAC, may perform these inspections and issue conformity certificates.
What must be prepared for an inspection prior to (re)opening the gas meter?
• A T-fitting (½” to 1″) for connecting the inspector’s pressure gauge
• All gas appliances (boiler, cooker, etc.) must be installed and connected
• Flue systems, fresh air supply, condensate drainage must be operational
• The Elgacert inspection certificate must be provided by the installer or customer
The inspection must be registered via www.elgacert.be, which digitally manages gas inspection certificates and reports accessible to the distribution network operator.
An inspection report is issued by the accredited inspection body.
Gas inspections are mandatory to protect building occupants from leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning. Non-compliance is a serious safety breach.
